T.J. Jourian

Research Associate - Qualitative Specialist

T.J. is an independent scholar, consultant, and trainer, and the director of Trans*Formational Change. Previously, T.J. was an assistant professor in higher education leadership at Oakland University. His research focuses on justice and liberation in higher education, with a specific focus on gender, sexuality, race, and the intersections therein. T.J.'s interests span masculinity, transness, and racialization; campus LGBTQ+/gender and sexuality centers and practitioners; and trans*ing constructs and methodologies. He co-founded Trans*Forming Higher Education (T.H.E.) Collaborative and the Journal of Critical Scholarship on Higher Education and Student Affairs. T.J. received his Ph.D. in Higher Education from Loyola University Chicago and his Master's in Student Affairs Administration with a cognate in Multicultural Education from Michigan State University. He is based in Philadelphia, PA, which is on the unceded lands of the Lenni Lenape people.
